If your idea of camping is basically going to a hotel, then it could be because you’ve not been doing it right for all of this time. Because when done well, and with the right equipment, it can be a really enjoyable experience. But what are the hacks to make sure that you have a happy camping experience? Here are some to try next time you want to give camping a go.
Take a Compass
Unless you have an acute sense of direction, then taking a compass with you can be a really good idea. Now, this isn’t to find your way back unless you fancy a hike or camping out in the wild. But it is a simple hack that can make your time much more enjoyable. Pitch your tent facing east, and it will face the morning sun. Much better than waking up on the shady side of the tent.
Pack a Power Pack
If you don’t enjoy camping because of the lack of electricity sockets, then you could pack yourself a power pack. It is unlikely that it will last you for the whole time. But could help you to read a book on a tablet, check emails, or a few other quick things online.
Try New Things
Camping and being outdoors is all about being active and exploring nature. And it can be even better if you look to try some new things while you’re at it. You could plan your trip to make sure that you are close by to things like new places to hike, or even a golf course to see if the recent golf trends are as they are reported. Looking for places to fish or kayak can be a good idea too. Just try something a little different and you’ll remember and enjoy the trip so much more.
Let There Be Light
It can be frustrating when you need to see things at night but you haven’t got any light. And the light on your phone is unlikely to last all that long. So there are a few things that you can do. One is to take plenty of flashlights. It might sound geeky but even one that can attach with a band on your head can be helpful when you want to use your hands for cooking, for instance. You could also use paper bags and tea light candles. Weight them down with rocks and they can be scattered around in the evening for your own fairy lights.
Hot Water Bottle
If you are going camping when the temperature is a little cooler, then getting an aluminum water bottle and filling it with boiling water before you go, can be great to keep your bed warm (as those bottles keep hot water hot for around 12 hours, here’s a good water bottle supplier to check out). Then it will be cool and ready to drink in the morning; perfect.
